ClaraBelle Zey

ClaraBelle Zey, 82, of Prairie Home, Mo., went to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 1, 2017, surrounded by her family. She was born on March 26, 1935, in Prairie Home, Mo., the daughter of Martin Odneal and Robna Byler Odneal both of whom preceded her in death. On July 27, 1957, she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Donald "Red" Zey at the Assumption Catholic Church in Cedron, Mo. Red preceded her in death on January 26, 2005. She graduated with honors from Prairie Home High School in 1953. She spent many years working as a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell where she developed lifelong friendships. She was a supervisor for GTE until her retirement from the phone company. Upon retirement, she worked in Prairie Home at the Post Office and as the city clerk. She completed her working career at Shelter Insurance Companies in Columbia, Mo., Clara loved spending time with her family (especially holidays and dinners). She enjoyed gardening, mowing, trips to the family farm, the Prairie Home Fair, and attending her granddaughters' school events. Coordinating outings on the OATS bus and playing cards with the local ladies in town were some of her favorite activities. Survivors include: one son, Keith Zey and his wife, Vivian of Prairie Home, Mo.; one daughter, Pamela Zey of Prairie Home, Mo.; one brother, Martin Odneal, Jr. (Joey) of Gilbertville, IA; and two granddaughters, Taylor Zey and Makayla Zey of Prairie Home, Mo. She was preceded in death by: one infant son, Robert Kevin Zey; and two brothers, Sam Odneal and Marvin Odneal. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. 12:00 noon with the funeral service following at 12:00 noon, both at the Riverside Christian Church in Boonville, Mo. Officiating will be Pastor David Mackey. Burial will be at the Cedron Cemetery near Prairie Home. Memorials are suggested to the Cedron Cemetery Fund or Riverside Christian Church Building Fund in care of the funeral home.
