Gertrude "Gerty" Leonard, 100, of California, Mo., passed away on Monday, April 10, 2017, at the Moniteau Care Center. She was born on November 26, 1916, in Centertown, Mo., the daughter of Edward Christian Hodler and Lena Dummermuth both of whom preceded her in death. She was married on September 19, 1934, in California, Mo., to John H. Leonard who preceded her in death on July 17, 1981. She worked at Nic Nac for over twenty five years and at Cargill for twelve years. She was a member of the Annunciation Catholic Church, WPFA Club, Ladies Sodality, and in the Quilters Club at Annunciation Church. She was a homemaker, loved quilting, sewing, canning, and being with her family. Survivors include: one son, John D. Leonard and his wife Vickie of Belle, Mo.; four daughters, Barbara Glenn of California, Mo., Linda McKee and her husband Joe of Centertown, Mo., Beverly Cain and her husband Floyd of Centertown, Mo., Rita Percival and her husband Dale of Russellville, Mo.; twenty six grandchildren; forty nine great-grandchildren; and twelve great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by: one son, Dennis Leonard; one daughter, Dorothy Bruce; three brothers, and five sisters. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary being held at 7:30 all at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, April 13, 2017 at 10:00 a.m., at the Annunciation Catholic Church. Officiating will be Father Toni Rinaldo. Burial will be at the Annunciation Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Annunciation music program or Moniteau Care Center Residents Fund.
