James (Jim) Richard Thompson

James Richard "Jim" Thompson, 81, of California, Mo., passed away on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at the California Care Center. He was born on February 2, 1936, in New Hampton, Mo. He was the son of Earl and Zonell (Swartz) Thompson both who preceded him in death. He was a member of the Union Local 579 for more than 50 years. He loved watching car racing, especially the Sprint Cars on any Sunday during the summer, you would be able to find him at XX Speedway cheering on his favorite driver Randy Martin. He spent many hours at the shop with drivers and going to other racetracks across the state. Survivors include: longtime significant other, Sue Livengood, of the home; three sons, Dennis Thompson and wife, Jill, Gary Thompson and wife, Anna, Jerry Wayne Thompson and wife, Stacy of Union Star Mo.; one brother, Don Thompson and wife, Ola; one sister-in-law, Janice Thompson of Kansas City, Mo.; 13 grandchildren, Andrea Thompson, Brian Thompson, Crystral Thornton, James Thompson, Allison Porter, Jessica Thompson, Jennifer Harris, Zachary Thompson, Jodie Harris, Wade Thompson, Dakota Harris (USAF), Trey Thompson, Luke Thompson; 12 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by one brother, Eddie Thompson and one daughter, Julie Livengood. Funeral service was held Sunday, April 2, 2017 at Heuser Funeral Home, Rich Hill, Mo. Interment at Salem Cemetery Foster, Mo.
