Mary Frances Marcum

Mary Frances Marcum went to her heavenly home on Thursday, February 2, 2017, at the John Knox Village House. She was married in Kansas City on August 29, 1935, to Albert B. Marcum who preceded her in death in 1992. As a homemaker, Mary was always involved in her daughters' activities before working many years for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas City. She was an avid Royals fan and rarely missed a game during her husband's tenure as Royals Ticket Manager. She spent her birthdays attending games even at the age of 99. She was the last charter member of South Broadland Presbyterian Church where she was active with the youth and the Keenagers, a senior group at the church. She enjoyed traveling, crocheting, working crossword puzzles, playing cards, and supporting her community. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. Survivors include: two daughters, Janet Turrentine (Jim) of Lee's Summit, Mo., and Karen Stock (Charles), California, Mo.; four granddaughters, Kathe Redel, Karen Marlborough, Jennifer Dampf and Jacque Stock; six great-grandchildren, Jacob Redel, Jenna Redel, Megan Alphin, Morgan Marlborough, Drew Dampf and Kelci Dampf; two great-great-grandsons, Schaefer Alphin and William Redel. She was preceded in death by: three sisters, Marie Mullaney, Kathryn Greaves Stafford, Ethel Sears and special friend, Glenn Carter. A graveside service was held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 6 at Mt. Moriah Cemetery. The Memorial service followed at 12:00 p.m., Monday, February 6 at South Broadland Presbyterian Church, 7850 Holmes, Kansas City, Mo. 64131. Memorial donations may be made to Village Hospice, 400 NW Murray Road, Suite 237, Lee's Summit, Mo. 64081.
