Richard (Dick) Lee Wilson

Richard Lee "Dick" Wilson, 84, of California, Mo., passed away on February 23, 2017, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Mexico, Mo. He was born on December 20, 1932, in California, Mo., the son of Leon Wilson and Minnie Walters both of whom preceded him in death. He was married on July 27, 1957, to Betty Jean Harlan who preceded him in death on June 16, 2015. He was a graduate of California High School in 1950. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1952 1955. He worked at Mo Wood until his retirement. He was the co-owner of Creative Awards where he started it while working at Mo-Wood, then as the company grew it turned full time after retiring. When he was younger he enjoyed playing fast pitch softball. In later years he liked camping, watching NASCAR, Mizzou basketball, and spending time with his family. Survivors include: two sons, Randy Wilson and his wife Charlene of Jamestown, Mo., Darryl Wilson and his wife Lisa of California, Mo.; four grandchildren, Jay McKee, Ryan Glenn, Brock Wilson, Quinten Wilson and his wife Miranda; two great-grandchildren, Lane Roth, Tristen Huffine; one niece, Tracy White and her husband Bill of Linn, Mo.; one great-nephew, Conner Tomson. He is preceded in death by: one infant sister, Bette Darlene Wilson. Visitation was held on Monday, February 27, 2017, from 10 a.m. 12 noon, funeral services followed at 12 noon at the funeral home. Officiated by Mr. Jack Bowlin. Burial was held at the California City Cemetery with full Military Honors. Memorials are suggested to Missouri Veterans Home in Mexico, Mo and the Alzheimer's Association. Arrangements are under the direction of Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, California, Mo.
