Edgar Dale Brant, age 82, of Clarksburg, Mo., died at SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital in Jefferson City Wednesday, January 4, 2017. Edgar was born January 19, 1934, to Harold and Virgie Brant in Charleston, Ill. Edgar joined the US Air Force in May of 1952 and served his country for over 20 years as a Staff Sergeant, becoming a veteran of both Korean and Viet Nam wars. He received a US Service Medal, Korean Service Medal and a National Defense Service Medal. Edgar was a Comp Center Supervisor and Specialist in communications, delivering messages between pilots, superior officers, the vice-president and even to the President of the United States. He retired from the Air Force in August of 1972. On June 6, 1954, Doris June and Edgar were married and had spent nearly 58 years together when she passed away in April of 2012. Together they raised three children. They lived in Tipton area until they decided to sell their home and just travel, which they enjoyed together for about 5 years. After he lost his wife, eventually he moved to live with his daughter, Patricia Mallinson and her family in Clarksburg until his health required him to move to the California Care Center in July, 2016. After Edgar retired from the service, he became a bus driver for Tipton School system for many years as well as working as a custodian and grounds keeper at E.W.Thompson State School in Sedalia. Preceding Edgar in death were his parents; his wife; his son, Robbie David Brant, age 17 on March 21, 1976; a stillborn baby brother and infant sister Joyce Joan; brothers, William (Bill), Wilbur(Gene), Rex, Benny and Raymond Brant; sisters, Betty Wilson, Virginia (Jenny) Matteson, Sharon Martin and Sandra Griffith; infant grandson, Michael David and infant granddaughter, Hayley Dawn Mallinson. Those surviving Edgar include: his son, Michael Lee Brant and his wife Maggie of Antelope, Calif.; daughter, Patricia Joann Mallinson and her husband Billy of Clarksburg, Mo.; grandson, Dakotah Mallinson and granddaughter, Cheyanna Mallinson; sister, Nancy Bosley of Hume, Ill.; brother-in-law, Paul Feist and his wife Judy of Sullivan, Ill.; many nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service was held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, January 7, 2017, at Pisgah Baptist Church with visitation at 2:30 p.m. Memorials are suggested to Pisgah Baptist Church for handicapped enhancement project.
