Shirley M. Garber, age 78, of Tipton, passed away Wednesday, May 31, 2017, at Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City. She was born August 25, 1938, in Morgan County, a daughter of the late H. Franklin "Frank" and Marion L. (Hess) Noyes. On September 28, 1956, in Versailles, she was united in marriage to Laurel Wayne Garber, who preceded her in death on February 1, 2012. Shirley volunteered for many years at the Price James Library in Tipton where she served on the board and also served as president. She was a member of the Bethel Mennonite Church. Her hobbies included reading, embroidery work and ceramics. Shirley was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by: her children, Tammy Lehman and husband Steve of Versailles, Kim Wilhelm and husband Todd of Versailles, Steve Garber and wife Jolene of Tipton and Tara Farmer and husband Kenny of California; grandchildren, Tyler, Laurey, Trey, Jordan, Mallory, Kyle, Abby, Cassie, Sara, Hannah and Kade; great-grandchildren, Adley, Easton, Masyn, McCoy, Makynna and Landon; her sisters, Lois Singer of Tipton and Gayle Long of Fletcher, N.C. and many other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by: her brother, Charles Noyes. The family received friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday, at the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home in Versailles. Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 3, 2017, at the Bethel Mennonite Church Dr. Jeff Elliott officiated. Graveside services and interment followed in the Bethel Mennonite Church Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Price James Library.
