Coach Geary Labuary, 65, of California, Mo., passed away on Monday, October 2, 2017, at his residence in California, Mo. Coach Labuary was born on November 2, 1951 in St. Louis, Mo., the son of Donald D. Labuary, who preceded him in death, and his mother, Betty Labuary, who survives of Festus, Mo. He was a 1970 graduate of Festus High School and went on to Northwest Missouri State University on a football scholarship and graduated in May of 1974. He was married on July 26, 1974 in Festus, Mo. to Stephany (Langelier) Labuary, who survives of the home. He was a head coach at Windsor High School in Imperial, Mo., Clinton High School in Clinton, Ill., Albany High School in Albany, Mo., Beloit High School in Beloit, Kan. and then moved to California Mo. to coach for the Pintos. He was one of six coaches with 307 wins in Missouri. He led the Pintos to three state championship games: 1997 3A State Champions, and second place in 1998 and 1999. Coach Labuary had an undying passion for the game of football and helped transform many players into young men. He was an avid hunter, enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Stephany Labuary of the home; two sons, Tony Labuary and wife Kim of California, Mo., Justin Shaver and wife Beth of Festus, Mo.; two daughters, Rachel Buehrle of St. Charles, Mo. and Katie Cherukumilli and husband Seenu of Alabama; five grandchildren, Sydney and Sahara Labuary and Luke, Peyton and Cody Shaver; one brother, Coach Dale Labuary and wife Sue of Monroe City, Mo.; one sister, Debbie Otte of Festus, Mo.; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at the California High School. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 5, 2017 at the Annunciation Catholic Church in California, Mo. Interment will be at the Annunciation Catholic Cemetery. Officiating will be Father Tony Renaldo. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Special Olympics, Ducks Unlimited or the Mustard Seed Program, c/o the funeral home.
