Lucille Stieferman

Lucille Stieferman, 99, of Centertown, Mo., passed away on Wednesday, April 11, 2018, at General Baptist Nursing Home in Linn, Mo. She was born on November 5, 1918, in Hazel, Okla., the daughter of Samuel Norman and Josephine (Richardson) Norman, both of whom preceded her in death. Lucille was first married to William Coots who preceded her in death on January 21, 1943, then was later married to Deward Stieferman who preceded her in death on November 4, 1985. She worked as a correction officer for the Department of Corrections Women's Prison in Tipton, Mo. for 21 years until retirement. She was a member of the Church of Christ near Brazito, Mo. Lucille loved and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren where she spent countless hours outdoors with them. She also was an avid reader. Survivors include two granddaughters, Mary Jo Woltering of Ottumwa, Iowa, Diana Miller of Centertown, Mo.; six great- grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Joanna Riley in 2010; one son, Doyle Coots in 2001; three sisters; three brothers and four grandsons. Visitation was held on Monday, April 16, 2018, from 10:00 a.m. 11:00 a.m. with a funeral service following at 11:00 a.m., both at the funeral home. Officiating was Pastor Rick Yoder. Burial was at the Centertown Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Centertown Cemetery c/o the funeral home. Arrangements were under the direction of Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, California, Mo.
