BURGER Robert William "Bill" Burger, 71, of California, Mo., went to be with his Lord and family in heaven on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at his home. He was born on November 10, 1947 at the Latham Sanitarium, the son of Fred Burger and Lucy (Murphy) Burger, both of whom preceded him in death. He was married to Judy Switzer on June 26, 1970 at the Bucklin United Methodist Church in Bucklin, Mo. Bill was enlisted in the United States Army where he was a sheet metal repairman, expert marksman with the M-60, and served in the Vietnam War. Bill loved to fish, hunt, make homemade wine and enjoyed sharing stories with his many friends. He was so proud of his sons and enjoyed watching the many events that his grandchildren were involved in. He is survived by his wife, Judy Burger, of the home; two sons, Jeremy Burger (Alisha) and Andy Burger (Mandy), all of California, Mo.; three grandchildren, Garrett, Emily and Ella Burger; three brothers, Jack Burger (Virginia) of Independence, Mo., David Burger and Arthur Burger, both of California, Mo.; three sisters, Betty Stevens (Gerald) of Hermann, Mo., Sue Tuttle (Robert) and Kathy Roll (Kim) all of California, Mo.; sisters-in-law, Joyce Haas (Glade) from Old Town, Fla. and Konda Bentley of Cairo, Mo.; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great- nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Roger, John Fredrick and Richard Burger; and two sisters, Evelyn Harvey and Pat Harvey. A Memorial service was held on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at the California United Church of Christ with Pastor Russell Cobb officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the DAV or Welcome Home a Community for Veterans, c/o the funeral home.
