Carol Ruth Maples

Carol Ruth Maples, 79, of Richmond, left for heaven Friday, April 27, 2018, from St. Luke's Hospice House in Kansas City, Mo. Carol was born on November 22, 1938, in McGirk, Mo. to Marvin and Edith Lorene (Lotz) Allee. She married Robert W. Maples of McGirk on September 7, 1958. He preceded Carol in death on October 12, 2002. Carol and her husband came to the Richmond area over 55 years ago. Carol worked at Jackson's Hardware and the Ray County Collectors Office where she retired. Carol was a long standing and active member of the church. She attended Sunday school, taught Vacation Bible School, and was a nursery attendant. Her faith in God played a big role in her life. Her kind and loving caring spirit was seen though her charity work, at the hospital, in schools and throughout her community. Her love of God and abundant heart overflowed to her family. Her greatest joy was family gatherings, fellowship, cooking and feeding everyone. She enjoyed trips to Branson, beautiful flowers and going on car rides. She was an exceptional mother and Memaw. Survivors include: one son. Steve Maples and fiancé Sharon McGinnis of Richmond; one daughter. Rita Maples of Pleasant Valley; two grandsons, Preston (Stephanie) Maples of Richmond and Sam Maples of Richmond; one great-grandson, Colton Rogers; two brothers, Paul (Suzy) Allee of Calfornia, Mo. and Norris (Carolyn) Allee of Houston, Texas; two sisters, Marlene Wieberg of Camdenton and Edith (John) Hamilton of Hannibal, and brother-in-law, Willard Reine of Jefferson City. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two sisters, Darlene Allee (twin of Marlene) in infancy and Lois Reine. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the First Baptist Church of Richmond or St. Luke's Hospice House. Visitation was held Monday, April 30, 2018, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, May 1, 2018, at 10:30 a.m. at the First Baptist Church with Pastor Willie Issacson officiating. Burial followed in Richmond Memory Gardens.
