Bobbie Dean Birdsong

Bobbie Dean Birdsong, 90, of California, Mo., passed away Sunday, May 20, 2018, at SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital in Jefferson City, Mo. due to complications of a stroke. She was born on July 28, 1927, in Marion, Mo., the daughter of Walter and Emma (Stauffer) Jackson, who preceded her in death. She was married on September 6, 1947, to Carl Don Birdsong, who also preceded her in death on March 23, 2011. Bobbie was an active member of the First Baptist Church, serving on numerous committees and as a longtime Sunday school teacher. She worked at the California Woolen Mill and Cargill for many years. An expert seamstress, she loved sewing, cleaning, gardening and spending time with family. In recent years, she loved caring for the feral kitties that lived under her deck. Survivors include one son, Kim Birdsong and his wife Jana, of Sedalia, Mo.; two daughters, Donna Birdsong of Austin, Texas, Kay Birdsong Hall and her husband David, of Ft. Pierce, Fla.; one sister, Jody Sansbury of California, Mo.; four grandchildren, Ashley Hall Greer, David J. Hall, Clint and Carly Birdsong and two great-grandchildren, Olivia and Jackson Greer. She also is preceded in death by two brothers, Roger and Guy Jackson and one sister, Ruby Ziehmer. Visitation will be held at First Baptist Church of California, Mo. on July 14, 2018, from 1-2 p.m. with a memorial service immediately following at 2 p.m. Interment will follow at Flag Springs Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church, California, Vet Clinic pet rescue or donor's choice c/o Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services.
