Opal McClelland
Opal McClelland, 93, of California, Mo., passed away on Friday,
April 12, 2019, at the Jefferson City Manor.
She was born on July 8, 1925, in Boonville, Mo., the daughter of
James Jackson and Vera (Sidebottom) Jackson,
both of whom preceded her in death.
Opal was married to Everett O'Bryan and later
married Charles Raymond McClelland, both of
whom preceded her in death.
She worked at the Weber Shoe Company and
Stride Rite in Tipton, Mo. for many years. Opal
was a member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church near
California where she enjoyed singing in the
church choir. She enjoyed fishing, sitting on the
porch, reading, doing crossword puzzles and playing her harmonica.
Opal is survived by three sons, Everett O'Bryan and wife Susan
of North Venice, Fla., Charles McClelland and wife Mary of
Syracuse, Mo., Wilbur McClelland and wife Linda of California,
Mo.; two daughters, Lolitta Hedrick and husband Dennis of Smithville, Mo., Peggy Chapin and husband Phillip of Allen, Texas; one
brother, Howard Jackson of Raytown, Mo.; two sisters, Carol
Bobbitt of Sedalia, Mo. and Pansy Chenoweth also of Sedalia, Mo.;
Opal is also survived by numerous grandchildren, greatgrandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by one grandson and three brothers.
Visitation was held Tuesday, April 16, 2019, from 1:00-2:00
p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services followed at 2:00 p.m.
also at the funeral home. Officiating was Pastor Justin Houston.
Burial was at the Clark's Chapel Cemetery near Franklin, Mo.
Memorials are suggested to the American Macular Degeneration
Foundation or the Alzheimer's Association C/O the funeral home.
Arrangements were under the direction of Bowlin-Cantriel
Funeral Services, California, Mo.
