Verna Mae Volkart

Verna Mae Volkart, 90, of Russellville, Mo., passed away on Sunday, August 4, 2019, at St. Mary's Hospital in Jefferson City, Mo., surrounded by her loving family. Verna was born on August 8, 1928, in Rural Moniteau County, the daughter of Elmer Hall and Bernice (Blankenship) Hall, both of whom preceded her in death. She was a graduate of California High School in 1945. Verna was united in marriage on January 19, 1947, in Olathe, Kan. to Dean Volkart who preceded her in death in November of 2009. Verna was a stay at home mom and was a very loving mother, grandma, and great-grandmother. She was a member of the Russellville Methodist Church and attended the Corticelli Baptist Church later in life. Verna enjoyed reading, sewing, doing embroidery, canning, visiting and talking with friends and family. Survivors include three sons; Michael C. (Kathy) Volkart of Russellville, Mo., Duane (Tammy) Volkart of Russellville, Mo., Terry J. (Cindy) Volkart of California, Mo.; three daughters, Connie (Larry) Lovett of California, Mo., Vicky (Steve) Hees of Jamestown, Mo., Kathy (Kenny) Dean of Centertown, Mo.; one daughter-in-law, Revae Volkart of Russellville, Mo.; one brother, Emmett Hall of California, Mo.; one sister, Betty Shikles of Russellville, Mo.; one sister-in-law, Margaret Hall of Excelsior Springs, Mo.; 27 grandchildren; and 35 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by one son, Larry Volkart; one grandson, Cameron Hess; one brother, Cletus Hall and one son-in-law, Kenny Howard. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 7, 2019, from 10:00 a.m. 12 p.m. with funeral services immediately following at 12 p.m., all at the Corticelli Baptist Church near Russellville, Mo. Officiating will be Pastor Rick Seaton. Burial will be at Enloe Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Enloe Cemetery c/o the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of the Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Service, California, Mo.
