Barbara A. Barbre

Barbara A. Barbre, age 81, passed away on Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at the University Hospital in Columbia, Mo. Barbara was born November 19, 1937, in St. Louis, Mo. to Robert and Helena Hodgin Baker. Her childhood was in the Manchester area. She graduated in 1955 from Maplewood Richmond Heights High School. In Denver, Colo., Barbara married Joe Barbre in 1964, who preceded her in death in 1999. Eventually, they returned to Missouri and settled in Sullivan. Barbara was a member of Grace Methodist Church there and also sang in the choir. In Sullivan, Barb opened and operated a ceramic business for several years. After Joe's death, Barbara moved to Jamestown to be near family. She became a part of the St. Paul's Evangelical Church, sang in the choir, and was instrumental in creating the community Prayer Chain. Barbara was a true believer in the power of prayer. She quickly made Jamestown her home and made friends easily. Barbara is survived by two sons, Bill Barbre (Sandy) of Springfield, Mo. and Rich Barbre (Joy) of Ballwin, Mo.; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; her sister, Sandee (Charles) Eschenbrenner, Jamestown, Mo.; one brother, Bob (Lora) Baker of Perryville, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Monday, July 1,2019 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Evangelical Church in Jamestown. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Steve Watson officiating. Following the funeral service, there will be a meal served in the church fellowship hall. Graveside services will be held at Bourbon City Cemetery at 4 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the Mid Missouri Honor Flight.
