Irene "Tootsie" Wirts

Irene "Tootsie" Wirts, 93, of California, Mo., passed away on Friday, July 12, 2019 at SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital in Jefferson City, Mo. She was born on August 31, 1925 in Barton County, Mo., the daughter of Leonard and Eva (Barnes) Bright, both of whom preceded her in death. Irene graduated from Lamar High School and ended up retiring from Cargill. She was a faithful member of the First Christian Church in California, Mo. She loved spending time with her family and grandchildren and spoiling them, quilting, and spending time at XX Speedway with her family and friends. Irene is survived by one son, Kyle Wirts and wife Carol of California, Mo.; one daughter, Bonnie Hinman and husband Bill of Joplin, Mo.; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Lois Bowley; six brothers and five sisters. Graveside services were held Tuesday, July 16, 2019 at the California Masonic Cemetery with Pastor Allen Bailey officiating. Memorials are suggested to the California First Christian Church, c/o the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, California, Mo.
