Dorsey Lee Lehman

Dorsey Lee Lehman, 90, California, Missouri, opened his eyes in heaven Thursday, June 13, 2019. Dorsey was born March 31, 1929, to Elmer and Alta (Hallford) Lehman, at the family farm outside California, Missouri. He was a 1947 graduate of California High School. He married Mary Lea Bellamy on June 30, 1951, and happily married for 60 years before her death. Dorsey served honorably in the Army as an MP during the Korean War from 1953 - 1955. He worked on the farm many years before moving to town to work for Ralston Purina and then Cargill for 28 years. After retirement from Cargill, he worked many years driving cars for California/Sakelaris Ford. Until the last two years when he lived with his son and wife, he loved meeting friends for coffee at the California McDonalds. Anyone who talked with Dorsey knew he had a keen wit, a sense of humor and always quick with a comeback. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, David and stepmother Lena Lehman. He is survived by his son, Michael (Lorna) Lehman; grandson, Joshua Lehman; granddaughter, Michaela (Tom) Oakes and four great-grandchildren, Ethan Fender and MaryJane, Ezra (Curly to Dorsey), and Zeke (Smiley) Oakes. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Rosalie Lehman, Carol (Ron) Beard, Donna Corine Bellamy; one brother-in-law, Glenn (Marilyn) Bellamy, many nieces, nephews, cousins and a multitude of friends. Funeral service was held Saturday, June 15, at 11:30 a.m. at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services. Interment, followed at California City Cemetery. Any memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church California, Cornerstone Baptist Church Centralia, Missouri or Hospice Compassus.
