Robert "Bob" Keil

KEIL Robert "Bob" Keil, age 87, passed away on Tuesday, June 11, 2019, at his home surrounded by his family. Bob was born April 2, 1932, the son of Frank and Letha (Lawson) Keil. Robert "Bob" married Mary Burger of California, Missouri on November 7, 1954, at the California United Church of Christ. He graduated from California High School in 1950. After graduation, Bob served two years in the US Army. He worked at Goff Food Service as a Manager for 11 years. He spent the next 38 years at Burgers' Smokehouse as Production Manager, Treasurer, and used his creative talents in designing the mail order catalog. He was a member of the California United Church of Christ, where he served on the Church Consistory, Sunday School Superintendent, and Youth Fellowship Sponsor. For several years, Bob served as a Board Member of the University of Missouri Children's Hospital, served as President of the E.M. Burger Memorial Foundation, member of the Jefferson Club of the University of Missouri, and a past member of the California Kiwanis Club. The most important thing in Bob's life was his family, especially hosting family gatherings and taking family vacations. He enjoyed the many events with the "5 Couples". Along with his wife Mary, Bob took pleasure in preparing meals for the Ham House employees and decorating the Ham House for the holidays. He was also an avid supporter of Pinto Athletics, where he never missed his grandchildren's games. Bob is survived by his wife, Mary, of the home; two daughters, Ann (Keith) Fletcher and Amy (Chris) Mouse; seven grandchildren, Cole (Heather) Fletcher, Lauren (Eric) Lawson, Drew Fletcher, Austin (Kaitlyn) Mouse, Collin (Kelsey) Mouse, Callie (Brice) Simmons and Landon Mouse; seven great- grandchildren, Addison, Mia and AJ Fletcher; Camden, Sutton and Lennon Lawson; and Kendall Simmons; and one sister, Betty Spieler. He was preceded in death by both parents, five siblings, Chester, Frank Jr., Harold, Terry Keil and Anna Margaret Gilchrist; and one beloved grandson, Joshua Fletcher. Services for Bob were held on Friday, June 14, 2019, at 11 a.m. at United Church of Christ with Pastor Russell Cobb and Allan Mortenson officiating. Burial followed at the Evangelical Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Joshua Fletcher Memorial Scholarship or the United Church of Christ Memorial Fund.
