Ethel Louise Dalstein

1928 - 2004

Ethel Louise Dalstein, of California, Missouri went to meet her Maker on November 5, 2012, at Moniteau Care Center, California, MO. She was born on July 10, 1928, in Moniteau County, MO, to
Clifford and Lucy (Medlock) Hackney. She was married to Vernon Leroy Dalstein in Centertown, MO on February 13, 1950. Vernon went to be with Jesus on February 28, 2004.

Ethel is survived by: one daughter Karen Louise Jenkins and husband Wayne, of California, MO; one son Vernon Leroy Dalstein, Jr. and wife Sherry of Ellendale, ND; 3 granddaughters, Jennifer R. Turpin and husband Payton of California, MO, Christina L. Calliham and husband Tom of Olean, MO, and Rebecca E. Dalstein of Ellendale, ND; one granson, John L. Dalstein and wife Amy of Ellendale, ND;
four great-granddaughters Aleena and Chelsey Turpin, Brixie Calliham and Avery Dalstein; two sisters, Lucille Mason of California, MO and Ethel's twin sister Ruth Walker of Harrisonville, MO; one sister-in-law, Mary Hackney of Cincinnati, OH; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one brother Clifford Ray Hackney. Funeral services were Saturday, November 10, with Vernon L Dalstein, Jr. and Bro. Greg Morrow officiating. Interment was at California City Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Missouri Baptist Children's Home, St. Louis, MO c/o Windmill Ridge Funeral Service, PO Box 443, California, MO 65018.

Ethel attended Johnson School through the eighth grade. She graduated California High School in 1946. Ethel began working for the Woolen Mill, California, MO and then the Missouri Baptist
Credit Convention, Jefferson City, MO. In 1956, Ethel and her family moved to Kansas City, MO and was a homemaker there until they returned to California, MO in 1969. Ethel then returned to employment as a bookkeeper/accountant and remained in that occupation until her second retirement in 2004 from Cal's Thriftway. Prior to that position, Ethel worked and retired from the Missouri Baptist Convention.

Ethel enjoyed being with her family; gardening, especially pulling weeds; lawn mowing; painting walls; cleaning house; and working in her word puzzle books.

Ethel was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church, California, MO.
