Edwin R. “Eddie” Schlup, 76, of California, Missouri passed away Thursday, February 07, 2013 at his home.
He was born on August 11, 1936 in Jamestown, Missouri to Elmer and Genevieve (Pace) Schlup, both of whom preceded him in death.
On November 29, 1959, at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church near Jamestown, MO, Eddie was united in marriage to Helen F. Cassil, who survives of the home.
Eddie was a former member of Jamestown Baptist Church where he was ordained and served as a Deacon, and was currently a member of the First Baptist Church of California.
He worked for Moniteau County Road District until his retirement as an equipment operator.
He was a farmer that loved to take care of his cattle and just enjoyed being in the outdoors. He also enjoyed tinkering with his cars and classic cars. Eddie taught his grandchildren to drive and took them for their driving tests. He also enjoyed adventures at the creeks with his grandchildren.
Edwin is also survived by two daughters, Tammy Weber (Allan) of St. Martins, MO and Darla Rogers (Darrell) of California, MO; three grandchildren, Clint Rogers (Cindy), Tyler Higgins (Vanessa) and Kelly Rogers; two step grandchildren, Ryan (Ashton) Weber and Nicole Weber; two great grandchildren, Cole Higgins and Olivia Rogers; two step-great grandchildren Jordan and Hallie; one brother, Calvin E. Schlup and one sister Alta Mae Smith (Bobby); two sister-in-laws Shirley and Liz Schlup and several nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Carl Henry Schlup and Lyle William Schlup; infant twins, Vernon Schlup and Vonetta Schlup; one uncle, Willy Schlup; one sister-in-law Elizabeth Schlup and grandson Travis Dean Higgins.
Funeral services were held Monday, February 11, 2013 at First Baptist Church Sanctuary with Rev. Greg Morrow and Rev. Bobby Nigles officiating. Interment was at California City Cemetery.
