Front row, from left, are Prairie Home School students Jonathan Brandes, Josey Stevens, Melanie Bryan and Sarah Gipson, who attended the 2011 Missouri Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) State Leadership Conference March 27-29 at Columbia, where delegates from across the state represented over 12,000 members of Missouri FCCLA. Attending with the students, behind, are PHS FCCLA Sponsor Lindsay Oram and PHS Guidance Counselor Courtney Hunt, who served as the chaperone. The conference centered on the student-developed "Roll Out the Red Carpet of Leadership" and featured guest speakers and workshops on topics such as preparing for college and stress management skills. Stevens, who was recently elected to serve as the Region 13 State Vice President, and was elected State Vice President of Membership at the conference, said, "Running for state office is something I'll never forget. I had the opportunity to speak in front of thousands of people about FCCLA and I met so many great Missouri FCCLA members. I hope Prairie Home students participate in this conference and run for state office in the future."
