Lady Pintos place third in River League Playoffs
The California Lady Pintos 12 and under softball team recently placed third in their division of the River League Playoffs. California ended the regular season in second place with a 10-2 record, then went on to lose to eventual champion St. Thomas in the playoffs, to finish in third place. The Lady Pintos had previously defeated St. Thomas in their first two meetings during the regular season, however, St. Thomas came out on top in the playoffs. California was the only team to defeat both the regular season champions (Brazito 1) and tournament champions (St. Thomas) during the league season. "This is a great group of young ladies." California Coach Brian Hill said. "They showed a lot of heart and determination this year. They never gave up and played hard each game. I hope we can keep this team together until high school. This group of ladies could make a pretty special high school team." Members of the team, front row, from left, are Lauren Hill, Lanie Holtsclaw, Hannah Hill, Jenna Berendzen, and Destiny Cook, back row, Kendal Marsh, Makayla Schanzmeyer, Kaitlyn Turner, Hailey Cain, Amber Trachsel, and Paige Lamm. Standing behind are Coach Brian Hill and Coach Brad Stuedle. (Members Bethany Stuedle and Sydney Percival were not present.)
