An estimated 55 large hay bales stored together burn along Route T, just off of Highway 87 south of California as a fire truck can be seen to the left. According to California Rural Fire Chief Steve Walters, the fire is believed to have been ignited by a pickup while some of the bales were being moved to another location. The fire was found in one bale when the pickup returned for more hay. California Rural Fire Protection District fire fighters responded with five trucks. Although, the bales could not be extinguished, the fire was stopped from spreading and some untouched bales were moved before they were affected.
