The California High School varsity baseball team opened the 2014 season with a home game against Eugene March 24 at the California Sports Complex, where the Pintos' hot bats proved to be too much for the Eagles and California captured a 15-4 win in six innings.

The Russellville Indians participated in the Show-Me Conference Baseball Tournament Friday-Saturday at New Bloomfield, where they ultimately lost the third-place game 10-3 to Linn Saturday.

The California High School varsity track team competed at the University of Central Missouri (UCM) indoor track meet at Warrensburg March 24, the first meet of the season for California, where approximately 30 teams of 3A and 4A schools participated, and the top six finishers in each event medaled.

Coach Miller is optimistic about 2014 Pinto golf season

California High School Head Boys Golf Coach Doug Miller said despite losing two varsity golfers, he's optimistic about this season. "We lost Damon Shaw, our All-Conference guy, to knee surgery, but he'll be back next year. And Conner George, one of our top guys, decided to try track this year, and he ended up liking it, so senior Cole George and freshman Dylan Kramel got those two varsity spots."California High School Head Boys Golf Coach Doug Miller said despite losing two varsity golfers, he's optimistic about this season. The California High School varsity and JV baseball teams are starting the 2014 season under the direction of new head coach Jason Gatlin.
