A Motorcycle Poker Run drew 65 riders for the fundraiser event to benefit the Honor Flight program and the California Kiwanis Saturday, June 21. The riders hailed from California and other areas of Moniteau County, as well as Jefferson City and Columbia. The approximately 125 mile route started in California at the high school, with sign-in and a silent auction in the CHS commons areas. There were a great many local sponsors for the event. Much needed ice on a hot day was supplied by Mr. G's.

The route took the participants through many areas, including Tipton, Latham, High Point, Russellville, Elston, Jefferson City, Marion, Jamestown, Prairie Home, Boonville, Bunceton and Clarksburg before returning to California.

The event began with a prayer by Kiwanis Past President Dr. Peter Kurowski, and a flag raising ceremony by Boy Scout Troop 120. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited and the national anthem played on the trumpet by David Garnett.

The event was originally scheduled for June 7, but was rescheduled due to stormy weather.
