Memorial Day is Monday, May 25, with area communities holding activities during the weekend.
Jamestown Lions Club plans a weekend of fun starting Saturday and continuing through Monday at the Jamestown Lions Club Park. A day-long Slow-pitch Coed Softball Tournament begins Saturday morning, May 23, and will run through the evening. On Sunday, a tractor and truck pull event will take place. Sign-up, tech and weigh-in of the MATPA pull event will be at noon, with the competition for the diesel, Dyno and tractors starting at 1 p.m. Non-MATPA pullers are welcome to participate. High Point Memorial Day services will be Sunday at the High Point Cemetery, beginning at 2 pm.
California's observance will be held at 10 a.m. at the California City Cemetery at the grave of Ralph Sanders. The observance will be a joint event between VFW Post 4345 and California Masonic Lodge 183. The public is invited to attend this ceremony recognizing the service of those men and women who have served the nation.
