CHS fall vocal concert

The Fall Concert was presented by the California High School Choral Department in the auditorium Sunday, Sept. 27. The event included performances by Sounds of Joy and the Mixed Choir, with a fundraiser pie auction between the performances of the two groups. The event was conducted by Vocal Music Director Michele Bilyeu, accompanied by Lisa Bleich.

The Sounds of Joy performed "Hello, Goodbye," "Knock on Wood," Shut Up and Dance" and, an old tune made popular by Tennessee Ernie Ford, "Sixteen Tons." The students danced as they sang two of the songs. The Mixed Choir performed "When Midnight Mists Are Creeping," "Carnavalito," and "Show Me the Way."

The two final songs on the program - "A Farewell" and "You've Got a Friend" - were performed in memory of Ginger Moore. A flower arrangement on the stage was also placed in her memory.

The pie auction was held to help raise funds for the planned Choir trip to New York City. Although the pies were presented by specific students and supporters of the choir, the funds raised go to support all of the 26 students equally for their trip.
