The California High School Drama Club is about to perform what many consider one of the funniest plays ever written, “The Importance of Being Earnest.” It is a witty send-up of the “privileged classes” and a subtle but hilarious situation comedy.

“We ‘earnestly’ request your presence at the performance,” said drama teacher and play director Katherine Cuba. The play is to be performed at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 16, at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 17. The cost for children is $3, and for adults is $6.

That is not all that is happening on Saturday.

“Clear your schedules on April 16,” Cuba said. “The track and cross country teams are hosting a spaghetti dinner in the high school commons from 5-7 p.m. Spaghetti, green beans, salad, garlic bread and refreshments are included for $6. Kids 4 and under eat free. Bring your family, eat a big meal, then support our students by watching the play that starts immediately after the dinner.”

In addition, she said, “Show your play ticket and receive a dollar off of your meal. We look forward to seeing you there.”
