A pair of throwers will represent the California track and field team at the Class 3 state meet this weekend in Jefferson City.
Juniors Audrey Pickering and Cameron Meyer will compete in the Shot Put and Discus, respectively, after notching top-four finishes at last Saturday's Class 3 Sectional 4 meet in Richmond.
Pickering took second at sectionals in Shot with a mark of 41-02. She is the defending Class 3 state champion in the event after posting a 41-04 at last year's state meet.
Meyer, meanwhile, took third on Saturday in the Discus after throwing for a distance of 115 feet. Earlier this season, she set the California school Discus record.
Pickering will throw at 4 p.m. on Friday afternoon at state, while Meyer will compete at noon on Saturday.
