Moniteau County Sheriff Tony Wheatley and Prosecutor Shayne Healea confirmed Friday that an investigation into the death of a 5-year-old child is ongoing.
The circumstances surrounding the incident, which occurred outside California, were not released. Both men said those details would not be shared until the investigation is complete.
Authorities said the information in this case could take two to three months to go through as medical specialists conduct their investigation into the child's cause of death.
