After their season finally began last Tuesday at the Camdenton Laker Relays, California traveled to Boonville to take part in the Jack McCush Invitational.
California had a strong showing at the Invitational with the Lady Pintos finishing fourth overall and the Pintos finishing eighth.
On the boys side, Ian Miller took third place in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:14. He followed that up with a sixth-place finish in the 1,600-meter run with a time of 5:07.
Senior Ryan Staton finished the 200 meter dash with a time 24.83 seconds and took home a fourth-place finish.
Senior Eli Dunnaway took home two medals with a third-place finish in the long jump and a win in the triple jump. Dunnaway also finished sixth in the 4oo-meter dash.
In the discus, senior Peter Dampf finished fourth with a throw of 32.99 meters.
For the Lady Pintos, each of the 4x400- and 4x800-meter relay teams finished second.
Freshman Kenzleigh Goans had an outstanding day in Boonville, winning the 3,200-meter run in 12:43 and finished second in the 1,600-meter run with a time of 6:02.
Freshman Hailey Rademan finished fourth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 28.33 seconds.
Freshman Emilia Collier finished the 1,600-meter run in 6:29 to finish fifth.
Freshman Allie Heather was fourth in the 800-meter run in 2:50.
Freshman Kierstyn Lawson and senior Ellie Clay finished fifth and sixth in the long jump, respectively.
Junior Emma Braby took fifth place in the javelin with a throw of 28.75 meters and the discus with a throw of 27.09 meters.
