Weekend power outage resolved quickly

A power outage occurred in California Saturday around 4:20 p.m.

The outage, which occurred at a power station, surprised residents as they prepared for the Moniteau County Fair Parade. However, this did not affect the event. The parade continued uninterrupted as city employees worked for the next hour to bring power back online.

This occurred when a resident cut down a tree, which fell onto power lines on East Main Street. The tree created a short affecting a local power station. The California Fire Department responded and put out a fire during the incident.

Mayor Rich Green said he is satisfied with the coordination between the city's electric and fire departments. He said there was significant damage to the power station, including parts the City of California electric department would need to replace in the near future.

The outage happened five days after a county-wide power outage which occurred on July 25. An animal was responsible for the earlier outage, officials said.
