A California man is behind bars after a traffic stop on U.S. 50.

Andrew K. Brizendine, 41, of California, was arrested Nov. 27 on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and driving while suspended, a Moniteau County Sheriff's Office news release said. He is being held on a $25,000 bond.

According to the release, sheriff deputies made contact with Brizendine during a stop for a driving violation. Brizendine was unable to produce a drivers license and deputies later became suspicious about his identity. The identity Brizendine originally provided to deputies did not match records, and he later admitted to lying about his identity because his license was suspended. Brizendine was unable to also produce vehicle registration or insurance.

Deputies located methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and marijuana in the vehicle, the release said.

Following the stop, police sent Brizendine to the Moniteau County Jail.
