Tractor-trailer crash kills 70-year-old driver

A 70-year-old man driving a tractor-trailer died in a Miller County crash Tuesday evening.

According to a Missouri Highway Patrol crash report, Barry Wisdom of Dixon was southbound about 5:43 p.m. on Missouri Highway 17 near Iberia in a Peterbilt tractor pulling a trailer, when the vehicle went off the right side of the road.

The tractor-trailer returned to the road and began to skid, before it jackknifed and separated, according to the report. The tractor then went off the left side of the road, struck a guardrail and overturned. It then struck a fence and tree.

The trailer went off the left side of the road and hit the guardrail before it overturned.

Wisdom, who was not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The fatality marks Troop F's 72nd for the year and third for December.
