Weather contributed to Miller County crash

Two people each suffered minor injuries when another driver attempted to pass them on a snow-packed Miller County highway and struck their vehicle Friday morning.

Rodney Jansen, 71, the driver of a Cadillac DTS, and Linda Jansen, 70, his passenger, both of Lake Ozark, were both taken to Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City for treatment.

Rodney Jansen, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report, at about 11:24 a.m. was driving the Cadillac westbound on U.S. Highway 54 near Etterville, when a Chevrolet pickup driven by David Johnson, 46, of Rocky Mount, attempted to pass, the report states.

Johnson drove into the mostly snow covered passing lane and lost control. His pickup struck the Cadillac, causing both vehicles to run off the right side of the road and hit a fence.

All of the people involved in the crash were wearing a seat belt.
