2 seriously injured in Friday accident

Two people from Eldon were seriously injured Friday in a crash in Moniteau County.

Matthew Edington, 34, was driving a 2005 Dodge Neon sedan southbound on Missouri 87 with Alicia Boyd, 27, as a passenger, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Edington failed to negotiate a curve at about 6:20 p.m. just north of Route A, and traveled off the right side of the road, striking a fence and a tree.

Edington and Boyd were not wearing seat belts and were seriously injured. Both were airlifted by helicopter to University Hospital in Columbia.

Two vehicles were totaled Friday in a crash in Morgan County, the patrol reported.

James Von Kaenel, 65, of Stover, was driving a 2006 Chrysler Town & Country minivan north along Missouri 135.

The crash occurred at about 3:20 p.m. at Ivy Bend Road, as Von Kaenel made a left turn in front of Timothy Biggs, 59, of Faucett, driving a 2022 Nissan Altima sedan south on Missouri 135.

Biggs was wearing a seat belt and received moderate injuries and his passenger, Sidney Biggs, 49, of Faucett, was also wearing a seat belt and received minor injuries. Both were transported by Mid-Missouri EMS to Lake Regional Hospital in Osage Beach.
