Logan-Rogersville blanks California in Class 4 baseball sectional

OZARK, Mo. -- The California Pintos’ first-ever appearance in the state baseball tournament ended Tuesday with a 15-0 loss in four innings to the Logan-Rogersville Wildcats.

Logan-Rogersville pitchers Blythe Blakey and Noah Higdon threw a combined one-hitter for the Wildcats. Ian Peterson broke up the perfect-game bid with a two-out single in the top of the third inning.

Logan-Rogersville scored two runs in the first inning and one in the second to build a 3-0 lead. The Wildcats ran away with the game, plating seven runs in the third and five more in the fourth to win by run-rule.

Trevor Myers and Calen Kruger were both hit by a pitch for the Pintos’ other baserunners.

The Wildcats collected six hits, were hit by a pitch six times and drew 13 walks in the win.

Peterson, Hunter Berendzen, Myers and Kruger each pitched for the Pintos.

California, which won the District 9 Tournament last week for the program’s first district title, ends the season with a 17-8 record.

Logan-Rogersville (24-7), ranked No. 4, will play the winner of the sectional game between No. 5 Summit Christian (22-2-1) and No. 8 Aurora (21-5), which has been postponed until noon today at Lee’s Summit High School.

The Summit Christian-Aurora winner will host Logan-Rogersville on Thursday.
