Residents will be able to enjoy a whole host of events in early December as they celebrate the holiday season.

The California Area Chamber of Commerce is putting together events locals can participate in with their friends and families Dec. 2-4.

Among the festivities, California's annual Christmas parade returns Saturday. According to the chamber, the line up for the event will begin on Stella Street at 4:30 p.m., and proceed throughout town at 5:30 p.m. The parade's theme this year will be "Christmas Family Traditions."

The parade will lead into the 'Tree Lighting at the Courthouse" event as well as "Christmas in Proctor Park." Seventy-eight local businesses will have their own Christmas displays for the holiday. Residents can drive through the area to get a view of all the different Christmas decorations the chamber has set up.

Residents can also participate in the chamber's second annual Cookie Crawl. Beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday, participants will move through 17 businesses in California for a collection of treats. Tickets for the crawl can be found at Pink Poppy Boutique Grace Print House and Grind Coffee and Bistro. The event will start at Sweet Chipotle Catering and Event Center.

The California High School Sounds of Joy will also perform at the event center alongside an appearance from Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus on Saturday after the parade in Sweet Chipotle.

Throughout the weekend, residents will be able to visit open houses for local businesses in California.

Residents also have the option to join a special event at 1:30 p.m. on Friday at the Finke Theatre where California Progress Inc., will host author Andrew McCrea on the success and survival of small towns.

Another Christmas celebration event is the California Community Choir's "Messiah" Sing Along, 3 p.m. Sunday at the California Performing Arts Center.

Note: The time and date for the Andrew McCrea presentation has been corrected. The time and location for CHS Sounds of Joy performance were added.
