A California venue is changing its name.
Following a recent change in ownership, an event venue at 318 S. Oak St. will be reopening as Oak Street Hall after years of operating as The Gathering Place. In addition to a new name and owner, the venue will also receive a fresh remodel inside.
However, apart from those changes, everything else will mostly remain the same.
Dan Couch, owner of Oak Street Hall, said rental rates will not change and The Grind, a neighboring coffee shop offering lunch options, will still be able to cater events. He added the space will feature a new layout.
"But (the space) needed to be updated and ... there was a bathroom up here that kind of broke up the space, and I wanted to eliminate it," Couch said. "I'll have two new bathrooms in the back, then a new kitchen and a whole new layout for the kitchen."
Couch, who previously worked full-time in construction before devoting more time to operating rental properties, said he hopes to complete construction by the second week of November. He said he has owned the row of buildings for more than 20 years and Oak Street Hall needed some work.
"All of these spaces (in this row of buildings) have undergone changes throughout the years," Couch said. "This one was just a little behind and needed a little work done."
