77th Annual Liebi Reunion

The Frederick and Elizabeth nee Shori Liebi family had 52 family members and three guests gather Sunday, June 25, at the California United Church of Christ for their 77th annual reunion. Dr. Greg Lenz gave the blessing before the potluck dinner. The oldest family member attending was Marian Kueffer Dorn, 95 years old. Marian has missed only 1 of the 77 Liebi reunions, and that was during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The youngest attending was Theodore Harness, age 6 weeks. Betty Beard, Mike and Brenda Fleming were recognized for traveling the farthest. A message was read from Major Bret Voigt, US Army.

Staff Sergeant Joseph Hartness, US Army, was introduced and provided information on his military service.

The guests were Sheri Crolea, Lu Hartman, and Donna. Family artifacts, pictures, albums, and more were on display, including items brought from the Harold Wagoner estate.

President Chris Len conducted the business meeting. The minutes from last year's meeting were read by Christine Huffman, Secretary.

A treasurer's report from Carol Rackers was given with acknowledgment of a donation made from the Harold Wagoner estate. Historian, Cheryl Schoenberg gave family updates. The records reflect a total of 457 direct descendants of Frederick Liebi (1849-1912) and Elizabeth Schori Liebi (1856-1922) who were married in Canton Bern, Switzerland in 1881. They came to the United States of America in the winter of 1883-1884 traveling with two small children. The trip took nearly 4 months. They made their home in Montieau County near Clarksburg in 1886.

Frederick and Elizabeth had eight children-Frederick, John, Elisa Liebi Lademann, Otto, Christian, Mary Eva Liebi Heidbreder, Emma Liebi Wagoner, and Ella Liebi Kueffer.

Updates from the Frederick Liebi, Sr. family included the births of Olivia Taylor to Luke and Vivi Morton, Eaton Jay to Hannah Hill and Ben Brown, and Theodore Martin to Joseph and Sarah Hartness.

Marriages include Raegan Liebi to Matthew Brown. Those attending from the Frederick Liebi family were Martha Liebi Decker, Alivia Liebi Griggs, Roman, Corbin, and Conan, Joseph, Sarah Thomas Hartness and Theodore, Art Liebi, Joe Liebi and Ellie, Michael and Emily Liebi, Peggy Liebi, Steve and Pam Liebi, Charlie Schler, Truman Schler, Jerry Shannon, Pam Shannon Stroup, and Sam and Julie Liebi Thomas and Jayden.

Those attending from Elisa Liebi Lademann family were Brenda Burger and Paul and Dorothy

Lademann Jungmeyer.

Updates from the Mary Eva Liebi Heidbreder family included the death of Trudy Lynn Heidbreder Bergstrom, daughter of Charles and Elaine Heidbreder. Those attending from the Heidbreder family were Betty Fleming Beard and Mike and Brenda Fleming.

Updates from the Ella Liebi Kueffer family included the births of Campbell Jane to Chris and Anne

Osborne Hurst, Ruth Elizabeth to Griffin and Sarah Rush, Ven Emmanuel to Chip and Morgan Kueffer, Simeon Luke to Caj and Hannah Kueffer, Collins Elizabeth to Keanan and Lauren Rush, and Colten Jacob to Jacob and Katherine Osborne Morse. Marriages included Jacob Kueffer to Jenna Holterman, Clad Kueffer to Kelsey Rima and Claire Kueffer to Paulo Matain. Those attending from the Kueffer family were Bobby and Kim Kueffer Ashley, Marian Kueffer Dorn, Christine Kueffer Huffman, Tom Huhmann, Bob and MaryAnn Kueffer, Brian and Jessica Kueffer, Chris and Suzanne Lenz, Greg Lenz, Brad and Jennifer Kueffer McCord, Sarah and Madison, Lori Dorn Osborne, Charley and Carol Kueffer Rackers, Larry and Cheryl Kueffer Schoenberg, Lisa Kueffer Wilson, and Mary Kueffer Young.

The 78th Annual Liebi Reunion is scheduled for Sunday, June 23, 2024
