High Point VBS begins Sunday

High Point

Sunday school attendance at High Point Baptist Church was 65 and worship time had 73. Children's time was given by Karen Distler.

Remember next Sunday, July 23, at 5 p.m. Vacation Bible School begins with carry-in dinner and games afterwards. Celebration Sunday will be July 30 during worship at 10:30 a.m.

Arthur Stiller who grew up near High Point passed away this past week. He was the son of Bob and Bessie Stiller. He graduated from the eighth grade in High Point and from High School in Eldon.

Mr. Robert Denker's visitation was Saturday. The funeral was Sunday. He was the agricultural teacher for many years at California High School. He was a dedicated teacher during and following his career. He was recognized as "Outstanding Educator" from the Aurora California High School Alumni Association this past May.

JoAnna Duncan and Beverly Meyer visited Priscilla Richey and Wanda Porter Monday evening. They have recently moved from High Point to California.

1884 - Birth of Albert Carr, owner of White Eagle Tavern in California.

1900 - Annunciation Church burned in California, destroying all records.

1908 - Tipton order of the Eastern Star was organized.

1944 - Death of Bascon Hines. Died with 197th engineers in North Africa.

1949 - Kiwanis Club was chartered (Dr. Popejoy 1st president)

1961 - Incorperation of the California Jaycees (Ed Blankenship 1st president)
