TIPTON -- A California man is dead after an early Saturday motorcycle crash.
John J. Lucas, 41, of California, was pronounced dead at 7:15 a.m. Saturday by Coroner Marty Ramsdell following a motorcycle accident south of the Missouri 5 and Richard Boulevard intersection in Tipton. According to a Missouri Highway Patrol crash report, Lucas was heading southbound at 6:35 a.m. on Missouri 5 when his 2021 Harley Davidson Road Glide travelled off the right side of the roadway and overturned.
Following the incident, Lucas was transported via Mid Mo Ambulance to Windmill Ridge Funeral Home. The totaled motorcycle was towed from the scene by Leepers Towing.
The incident was the second fatal crash reported by the Highway Patrol for 2023 in Moniteau County, and the first for Troop F for June and its 20th for 2023.
