Not all heroes wear capes - some wear scrubs.

California Kids LLC Learning Center and Daycare teamed up with Zimmer Communications on Friday for the 17th Annual Missouri Credit Union Miracles for Kids Radiothon. The event benefits the University of Missouri Health Care's Children's Hospital, with funds going toward equipment and costs for equipment needed for patients. The radiothon was broadcast from Feb. 23-24 on several Zimmer stations throughout Missouri, including 93.9 The Eagle, Clear 99, 94.3 Kat Country and Y107.

California Kids owner and operator Anny Roll donated $300 with a monthly contribution to Zimmer Communication's two-day radiothon event and celebrated the occasion by having her students and staff dress up as their favorite superheroes.

"I have an employee that used to work for me...who reached out to me and asked if it was something that I would be interested in," Roll said. "I enjoy doing things for the kiddos because in return these kids learn empathy and all that stuff in regards to other children that are around in Missouri."

According to Roll, this year's theme was, "not all heroes wear capes." Although the radiothon celebrated those who wore scrubs and stethoscopes, Roll decided her kids would take a different approach.

"We all thought that we would dress up as superheroes, because that kind of goes along with the superhero theme," Roll said. "(The children) absolutely love it. Even the little bitty babies dress up. And they got really excited when they see my staff and I dressed up. They thought it was just the coolest thing ever."
