Lt. Gov. Mike Kehoe will make an appearance in Moniteau County come early April, according to the Moniteau Regional Economic Development Council (MRED).

MRED set a date for its Annual Meeting on March 8. Members of the organization met at Burger Haus in California discuss details regarding business development, workforce development and other matters for the previous month.

MRED president Mike Kelley told members the organization's annual meeting is slated for 6 p.m. April 12 in Tipton. The event will be held at Co-Mo Connect's Operation Center.

Members also went over a new slate of officers to be ratified during the annual meeting. The board discussed who could be instated into the roles of secretary, treasurer, etc. However, since the discussion, Kelley is still looking for someone to fill the roles of vice-chairman and secretary.

In other business, Kelley announced the winners of the Start Up Moniteau LaunchU Contest, Laci Rains and Jessica Connelly, who tied for first place. He said Rains gave a presentation about her business, She's Native, a Mid-Missouri subscription box service, during a Central Missouri Business Leaders meeting.

Kelly also informed members the Childcare and Workforce Taskforce sent out its first survey to employers within the county. The survey asks questions of workers that, when answered, inform MRED of any childcare needs for local families. He said two versions of the survey have been sent, one in English and the other in Spanish for the county's hispanic community.

He said the data will better help MRED's Childcare and Workforce Taskforce during its next meeting on March 28.
