California Pintos golf competed March 22 in the California Quad against Boonville, Versailles and Fatima.

The Pintos came off a third-place finish at the Father Tolton Catholic Invitational on March 20 and got right back to work a couple of days later, putting together a steady performance to win first place with a combined score of 158 strokes.

Will Boyd won the individual competition with a score of 34 (-2); Ayden Howard and Jackson Cassill each scored 41 and tied for third place; Jackson Hackett scored 42 and tied for fifth place and Chase Schlup shot 45 and finished in eighth place.

Head coach Lance Boyd said his players have not missed a step since winning the state championship last May. He also said his team's combined score is a strong score for early in the season.

"A team score of 158 was a very solid number for our first home match of the season. The boys look to have picked up where they left off last spring and they should continue to improve as the season progresses," Boyd said.

The Pintos will play today in the Osage Tri.
