One fatality, two injuries reported in weekend crashes

A Versailles man was injured Saturday morning in a two-vehicle crash in Morgan County.

Steffanie A. Boettcher, 43, was stopped in traffic on Missouri 52 around 450 feet west of Church Road when Herbert J. Worsley, 72, hit her vehicle from behind, according to a Highway Patrol crash report.

Worsley, of Versailles, sustained minor injuries and was taken by ambulance to Lake Regional Hospital. Boettcher, also from Versailles, was not injured.

A juvenile died in a Boone County crash Saturday afternoon.

According to a Highway Patrol crash report, the 13-year-old boy lost control of his 2019 Kawasaki KX250 dirt bike Saturday as he traveled over a berm at Finger Lake State Park Motocross Track.

The dirt bike went airborne and hit the ground, ejecting the boy from the seat.

The New London boy was wearing a safety device and was taken to University Hospital by EMS, but was pronounced dead at 2:23 p.m., a little over an hour after the crash.

On Sunday afternoon, an Independence man was injured in a two-vehicle crash in Morgan County.

Aiden W. Statt, 19, was driving east on Missouri 52 around 230 feet west of Locust Street and tried to turn left in front of Christopher R. Carlson, 44.

Carlson hit Statt's 1999 Volvo C70 with his 2023 Ram 3500 as Statt attempted to make the left turn, according to a Highway Patrol crash report.

Statt, of Versailles, was uninjured and drove from the scene. Carlson, of Independence, sustained minor injuries and was taken by ambulance to Lake Regional Hospital.
