California Pintos and Lady Pintos track & field took six individuals and one team to the Class 3 Sectional Tournament Saturday at Mexico High School. The format for sectionals was the same as districts: California's athletes had to finish in the top four places in their events to qualify for a spot for the state championships. California finished with three individuals and their 4x400 relay team qualifying for state.
Ayden Bryant qualified for state in the boys long jump by finishing third place at sectionals with a jump of 6.44 meters. Bryant also finished seventh place in the boys 100-meter dash with a time of 11.66 seconds.
Kenzleigh Goans qualified for state in the girls 800-meter run by finishing third place at sectionals with a time of 2 minutes and 25.67 seconds.
Emma Braby qualified for state in the girls shot put by finishing fourth place at sectionals with a throw of 10.40 meters.
The girls 4x400 meter relay team of Allie Heather, Tayte Higgins, Kierstyn Lawson and Hailey Rademan qualified for state with a fourth place finish at sectionals with a combined time of 4:14.27.
Abby Braby finished fifth place in the girls discus with a throw of 27.30 meters.
Allie Heather finished fifth place in the girls 400-meter dash with a time of 1:02.78.
Jackson Hensley finished sixth place in the boys 110-meter hurdles with a time of 16.10 seconds.
California's state qualifiers will compete in the Class 3 Track and Field State Championships Friday and Saturday at Jefferson City High School.
