VERSAILLES, Mo. -- A Morgan County municipality received rebates for a recently completed wastewater improvement project.
On Tuesday, the Missouri Rural Water Association presented the City of Versailles with a $1,596.76 rebate check from the Missouri Public Utility Commission for interest costs accrued during construction of a wastewater facility. According to a rural water association news release, the project was funded through a utility commission interim loan program it administers.
Jon Benson, vice president of D.A. Davidson & Co., said the project involved infiltration and inflow reduction and sewer plant improvements. Versailles Mayor Jamie Morrow said construction was completed around early 2021.
"This is a culmination of years of hard work with federal and state agencies to keep our wastewater system in compliance and to continue to provide safe, healthy wastewater services to our residents," Morrow said.
Morrow thanked staff and elected officials who helped complete the project, along with the U.S. Department of Agriculture-Rural Development for making the project affordable for residents.
Melody Molder, drinking water circuit rider for the rural water association, said Versailles has been a part of the organization for years, and the utility commission's loan program is one benefit available to members of the association.
