Martinez, 29, of California, was arrested Tuesday (Aug. 29) on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance (methamphetamine), unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful use of a weapon. He was also arrested on a felony warrant for a probation violation.

Moniteau County Sheriff's Office deputies located drugs and a firearm inside the vehicle of a California man arrested for active felony warrants.

According to a news release, Jaime M. Martinez, 29, was arrested Aug. 29 following an investigative stop for a suspicious vehicle on Kiely Ford Road southwest of California. Although initially arrested for an active felony warrant for a probation violation, he was later charged for allegedly possessing a controlled substance (methamphetamine), unlawfully possessing a firearm and unlawfully using a weapon. He was held without bond for the warrant, and a $100,000 bond was set for the new charges.

After making contact with Martinez, the release said he initially provided deputies with a false name and information. The deputies later discovered his real identity and learned he was on probation/parole for tampering with a motor vehicle. Deputies took Martinez into custody after discovering the active felony warrant.

While conducting an inventory search of Martinez's vehicle, deputies also located a firearm near the driver's seat and methamphetamine.

Martinez was subsequently transported to the Moniteau County Jail, where he is still in custody.
