Test your knowledge of the Constitution

by Tara Espinoza | September 17, 2023 at 4:00 a.m.

I'll take "United States Constitution" for $200.

The Daughters of the American Revolution is partnering with the News Tribune, the Fulton Sun and the California Democrat to host United States Constitution quizzes during Constitution Week today through Saturday.

Each day, a new selection of the Constitution will be posted at newstribune.com, fultonsun.com and californiademocrat.com; readers will read through the articles and test their knowledge by taking the ensuing quiz.

If you provide your email after taking the quizzes, you will be entered into a drawing to win a $50 VISA gift card. There will be three winners.

The DAR petitioned Congress in 1955 to set aside Sept. 17-23 to celebrate "America's most important document," the Constitution. The main goals of the week are to inform, educate and emphasize the citizens' responsibilities for protecting and defending the Constitution.

"Each year, Constitution Week grows," said Eva Yeager, the local Constitution Week chair. "In the past, this week has been super focused on kids and educating them. Now I feel like it's more open for everyone -- with all the different projects and activities."

Deb Aldridge made 150 kits with a bell to ring, some prizes and information about the week.

"We want people to celebrate and learn about our history," Yeager said. "This is a fun way to make it happen, and I'm thankful for all the people who have helped get the word out and those who are practicing."

The first quiz is now available and will cover Article 1 of the Constitution; a new quiz will be opened every day.
